UFARS Report - Reporting Structure

Use the MN UFARS Report - Setup - Reporting Structure page to define the relationship between your district's Fund Accounting organization and account structure and the state-defined Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS) dimensions required by the Minnesota Department of Education. For each state-level UFARS title, you must specify the district organization chart/accounting level and the starting and ending positions.

  1. On the MN UFARS Report page, select Setup, and then Reporting Structure.

  2. Filter records using the filter criteria. To enter filter criteria:

    1. Select an option in the first field.

    2. Select or enter a value.

    3. Select Add if the button is enabled.
      Refer to Search for records for more information.

      • To add a record, select Add Record. Refer to the Field descriptions and enter valid information in the required fields. Select Save, then Yes.

      • To edit a record, select the record and select Accept. Update the information and select Accept.

      • To delete, select Delete, then Yes.

Field descriptions

The following table describes the fields on the Reporting Structure form of the MN UFARS Report - Setup - Reporting Structure page.

Field

Description

UFARS Title

The state-defined UFARS dimension being mapped.

Valid values:

  • Fund

  • Org

  • Program

  • Finance

  • Course

  • Object

  • Source

Each UFARS Title must have a mapping defined for the report to generate correctly.

Ledger

Specifies which financial ledger type the reporting structure record applies to.

Valid values:

  • E - Expenditure = Applies the reporting structure to the Expenditure Ledger.

  • R - Revenue = Applies the reporting structure to the Revenue Ledger.

  • G - G/L = Applies the reporting structure to the General Ledger.

  • ALL = Applies the reporting structure to all ledger types.

This field is displayed when Full Account Structure (FAS) is enabled.

Organization/Account Level

The district organization chart/accounting level that contains the data for this UFARS dimension.

The Organization/Account Level must be the number that represents the level on the organization chart or account, as defined on the Fund Accounting Profile page. Organization levels will be one more than the organization number. For example, orgn2 = level 3. The titles of the organization levels are retrieved from the titles set up on the Titles tab of the Fund Accounting Profile page.

The values in the drop-down are retrieved from the Titles tab of the Fund Accounting Profile page. The values also include the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sub-accounts.

Starting Position

The starting position of the organization chart/accounting level in the accounting structure from which to extract the UFARS code value.

Ending Position

The ending position of the organization chart/accounting level in the accounting structure for extracting the UFARS code value. Must be greater than or equal to the Starting Position field value.
