PEIMS Translation Entry

The PEIMS Translation Entry page is displayed when saving:

The PEIMS Translation Entry page allows districts to map their internal accounting codes to the standardized PEIMS reporting codes required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

This page bridges local accounting practices and state compliance requirements, ensuring Texas school districts can maintain their preferred internal coding structures while meeting state reporting obligations.

Example

The following example explains the translation mapping requirement:

  1. District Setup: A Texas school district uses internal code "100-5100" for "General Fund - Teacher Salaries"

  2. PEIMS Requirement: Texas requires this to be reported as:

    • Fund: 199 (General Fund)

    • Function: 11 (Instruction)

    • Object: 6100 (Payroll Costs)

    • Organization: 001 (Campus code)

    • Program: 11 (Basic Educational Services)

    • Year: 0

  3. Translation Entry: The district creates a translation mapping on the PEIMS Translation Entry page, linking "100-5100" to "199-11-6100-001-11-0".

  4. Automatic Translation: When financial reports are generated for PEIMS submission, the system automatically translates all district transactions using these mappings.
