Payroll Information - State Required

Before generating the reports, enter valid information on the Nebraska State Required Screen page.

Enter information for regular employees

On the Employee Information page, the Pending Status for a regular employee is blank.

  1. On the start page, select Human Resources.

  2. Select Entry & Processing, then from the Employee menu, select Employee Information.

  3. Enter the Search Criteria and select Search. Alternatively, you can select Exclude Pending Employees and then select Search.
    Refer to Search for records for more information.

  4. Select the relevant employee record and select Accept

  5. Select Payroll Information and then select State Required

  6. Refer to the Field descriptions and enter valid information. 

  7. Select Accept.

Enter information for pending employees

Pending employees require additional information to complete the employee record. On the Employee Information page, the Pending Status on the record displays Add Pending.

  1. On the start page, select Human Resources.

  2. Select Entry & Processing, then from the Employee menu, select Employee Information.

  3. Enter the Search Criteria and select Search. Alternatively, you can select Only List Pending Employees and then select Search.
    Refer to Search for records for more information.

  4. Select the relevant employee record and select Accept

  5. Select Nebraska State Required Screen

  6. Refer to the Field descriptions and enter valid information.

  7. Select Finish.

  8. On the navigation bar, select Finish.

  9. Select OK.

Referencing Reports

Default Hours

The employee's monthly retirement hours.

Used when calculating FTE and retirement contribution amounts. If the employee has salaried pay rates, this value is multiplied by FTE to determine reportable hours.

NE NPERS Report

Subject Area

The primary subject area code for teachers. Used to determine the employee's primary teaching subject for staff records.

The valid values are 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 35, 37, 39.

NE NSSRS Report

Grade Taught

The grade level where the teacher spent the most time teaching.

NE NSSRS Report

Classified

Indicates whether the employee is a Classified or Non-Classified employee for retirement purposes.

Valid values:

  • C = Classified employee

  • N = Non-Classified (default)

NE NPERS Report

Citizen

Indicates whether the employee is a US citizen. Defaults to "Y" if left blank.

Valid values:

  • Y = US Citizen (default)

  • N = Not a US Citizen

NPERS #

The NPERS (Nebraska Public Employees Retirement System) identification number assigned to the employee.

NSSRS Report

Controls whether the employee is included in NSSRS reporting. Used to transfer employees to non-reportable status or exclude them entirely.

Valid values:

  • Blank = Include in report

  • T = Transferred to Non-Reportable

  • N = Non-Reportable (excluded)

NE NSSRS Report

NSSRS Contract

Indicates whether this is the employee's contracting district for NSSRS assignment purposes. Determines how the controlling district is populated.

Valid values:

  • Blank = Default

  • Y = Yes (use district's county-district number)

  • N = No (use the Control Dist field value)

NE NSSRS Report

Control Dist

The controlling district code. Required when the NSSRS Contract field value is N. 

This field value identifies the district that controls this employee's assignment.

The format is ##-#### (county-district number, e.g., 00-0003 for ESU).
