Field descriptions

Field

Description

Year

The fiscal year for which this MARSS number is valid. MARSS numbers are year-specific to allow for changes in school/organization structures over time.

MARSS Number

The Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) organization or school number. This code identifies a specific school or organizational unit within the district and is used to cross-validate UFARS Organization codes during report processing. Each MARSS number must be unique within a given year.

Description

An optional text description to identify the school or organizational unit associated with the MARSS number. Examples include school names like "ELEMENTARY SCHOOL", "HIGH SCHOOL", or "DISTRICT OFFICE". This field helps users identify MARSS numbers when reviewing the validation table.
