Data Exchange (DEX) Setup

Use the Environment Maintenance option to configure district settings at the Business Entity level. All the DEX districts' settings must be identified with a separate GUID value and saved in a list. This GUID will be assigned at the Profile level to authorize that Profile to launch the DEX dashboard.

Set up DEX Integration

Perform the following procedures to set up DEX Integration:

Set the Global Environment Variable DEXINTRENABLED

To enable District Settings setup, set the global environment variable DEXINTRENABLED.

Environments with this feature enabled will display links for DEX configuration at the district and profile levels.

  1. Log in to PowerSchool ERP.

  2. Click the circle with your initials in the toolbar.

  3. Select Environment Maintenance.

  4. In the Other Catalog Information section, select Global Variables.

  5. In an unused row of the Name column, enter DEXINTRENABLED.

  6. In the Value column, enter 1.

  7. In the Product Id column, select eFinancePlus.

  8. In the Environment Variable column, select the checkbox.

  9. Select Save

Configure DEX District Settings

  1. Log in to PowerSchool ERP.

  2. Click the circle with your initials in the toolbar.

  3. Select Environment Maintenance.

  4. In the Business Entity List section, select the Business Entity that requires configuration of DEX district settings.

  5. In the Additional Links section, select AppSwitcher SSO Setup.

    • To add a PowerSchool District GUID, select Add. Refer to the Field descriptions, enter valid information, and select Save.

    • To edit, select the PowerSchool District GUID. Update the information and select Save.

    • To delete, select the checkbox in the third column and select Save. Select Save again.

The following table describes the fields in the PowerSchool District GUID Configuration and District Settings sections on the Single Sign On IDP Setup page.

PowerSchool provides the valid value.

Environment

PowerSchool provides the valid value.

Client ID

PowerSchool provides the valid value.

Client Secret

PowerSchool provides the valid value.

API URL

The valid value is https://api.services.powerschool.com.

Auth URL

The valid value is https://auth.services.powerschool.com/.

Client Scope

The valid value is district-settings-api/readonly.

Auth Audience

This field is not required.

The values for API URL, Auth URL, and Client Scope are static and can be directly used. The API URL and Auth URL point to the PowerSchool DEX PROD environment.

Configure DEX District Profile mapping

  1. Log in to PowerSchool ERP.

  2. Click the circle with your initials in the toolbar.

  3. Select Environment Maintenance.

  4. In the Business Entity List section, select the Business Entity containing the profile that requires configuration.

  5. Select the profile that requires configuration of district profile mapping.

  6. In the General Information section, select DEX Enabled.

  7. In the PowerSchool District Application GUID field, select the GUID.

  8. Select Save.

Launch DEX Cloud

Ensure that security resource 32000 was assigned to the user during the Data Exchange (DEX) Security Prerequisites setup.

  1. Use the browser’s reload or refresh button to reload the PowerSchool ERP dashboard. You can also log out and log in.

  2. From the left navigation panel, select e-Forms and Tools, and then from the Tools menu, select Dex Cloud Launch.

If everything is configured correctly, the DEX Dashboard opens.
