EFIN-43267OR Eugene Local Tax Calculation

The Oregon city of Eugene instituted a graduated local tax that calculates based on a monthly gross amount. The local tax calculations do not handle this, and this is in addition to other local taxes. We have modified the payroll pre-calculation and calculation processes to check for a deduction code in the User Defined Table ET and, if found, calculate the tax using the month to date taxable gross along with the crossover processing in the deduction table record to determine the amount of tax to deduct for an employee.

The customer pay frequency is monthly, which makes this calculation possible. The deduction codes are alphanumeric, and the earlier in that series the deduction code is, the earlier the amount will be taken in the calculation process.

With future tickets, we will modify the Payroll Worksheet, Manual Check, and What If calculation to also use this special calculation process for the specified deduction. However, until that is completed, the customer will need to override the deduction amount in these situations.
